Get into the Wild @ Deakin University

A showcase of environmental orientated things that our staff and students do, as well as things we find interesting. If you like it, maybe you should be studying with us :-)

Seismic Surveys Negatively Affect Humpback Whale Singing Activity off Northern Angola

Many Deakin Wildlife and Conservation Biology students are treated to views of migrating Humpback Whales during their first year field trip to Cape Conran, in eastern Victoria. Hopefully this year the weather and whales will be kind and we will get great views.

Sitting on the shore looking out to sea, the whales are probably entirely unaware of our presence. This paper reminds us that not all human activities are “invisible” (well, inaudible) to whales. The paper is free to download.
